Building Freedom Day
Our largest event of the year, Building Freedom Day was born from the tragedy of September 11, 2001. A Habitat homeowner suggested that we raise the walls on multiple homes for hardworking families as a way to heal the community.
This year, Habitat for Humanity Tucson will celebrate its eleventh Building Freedom Day on Tuesday, September 11, 2012.
With your help, we will begin construction on four new homes in our Corazon Del Pueblo Development.
As in the past, we anticipate that hundreds of volunteers and community members will participate in this effort. There will be ongoing media coverage throughout the day!
Hammer it Home - The Keys Goal: $330,000.00
A full home sponsorship = $85,000.
We are flexible! To meet the $85,000 goal, past sponsors have:
- fully sponsored a home
- spearheaded an effort to put together a full sponsorship comprised of companies, vendors or other groups associated with them
- asked us to combine their donation with others
Note: A full sponsorship of $85,000 does not cover all of the direct costs associated with building a Habitat home. Government grants and our earned revenues provide the other $40,000.
Sponsorship includes volunteer spaces for your employees, partners and families to come out and build on September 11. On this day, we have many more requests to participate than we can accommodate, so we have developed a system to ensure that sponsors get priority.
